Position Description

United Health Services is looking for a dynamic Assistant Nurse Manager to help lead our Emergency Department team. This role is responsible for coordinating daily operations under the guidance of the Nurse Manager, providing both clinical and administrative leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate care.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily unit operations under the guidance of the Nurse Manager, ensuring smooth clinical workflows and administrative efficiency

  • Support onboarding and annual credentialing of nursing staff, maintaining compliance with organizational standards and quality benchmarks

  • Assist with regulatory readiness, ensuring the unit meets all accreditation and compliance requirements

  • Supervise assigned direct reports, providing guidance, support, and oversight in alignment with departmental goals

  • Conduct annual performance appraisals, setting individualized development goals and fostering professional growth

  • Act as a change advocate, helping staff navigate transitions and adopt new practices with resilience and adaptability

  • Champion best practices and new initiatives, promoting innovation and continuous improvement at both unit and organizational levels

  • Participate in professional governance, contributing to nursing leadership and decision-making across UHS

  • Provide leadership support during off shifts, ensuring continuity of care and communication across all hours

  • Mentor staff in conflict resolution, promoting a culture of respectful, professional communication

  • Collaborate on care delivery models, helping design systems that are safe, evidence-based, and equitable

  • Encourage ongoing education and certification, supporting staff in achieving professional excellence and career advancement

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Required

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing
  • Up to three (3) years of Nursing experience
  • Up to three (3) years of directly related experience
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse License

Preferred

  • Masters in Nursing

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in an office environment and patient care areas which require working in proximity to other employees and patients. Rooms are air conditioned and heated.
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting.
  • Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • PPE (Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, and Gloves) as required by UHS Hospitals Infection Control policies.
  • Employees are required to have reasonable access to transportation to meet work requirements made in the ordinary course of business in a timely and efficient manner.
