Job Description
- Gives nursing care to residents, as assigned by Head Nurse, Staff Nurse, ADNS or CNO.
- Administers and records medications and treatments, as assigned in EMR in timely manner.
- Assists with organization of nursing care for residents and/or assumes charge of unit, as assigned.
- Makes out and/or reviews assignment with special attention to the following:
Checks arrival/leaving of staff on unit.
Even distribution of work load.
Directs staff assignment according to assessed priorities.
- Attends staff meetings/in service.
- Participates in resident care conferences and update care plans if needed in EMR.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medication administration which includes dosage, route, action, side effects and contraindications. Utilities resources as necessary.
- Demonstrates knowledge of unit response to emergency situation and carrier out responsibilities as directed and document in EMR.
- Participates in educational programs that contribute to the improvement of nursing practice.
- Maintains confidentiality of resident related issues and is supportive of resident’s rights.
- Reviewing nurses’ notes from other shifts and follow up on any concerns or issues.
- Guides/direct, instructs Patient Care Technicians (PCT) or Patient Care Associate (PCA) in rendering resident care as assigned.
- Assists in the admission, transfer and discharge of residents as assigned by Head Nurse, Staff Nurse, ADNS or CNO
- Assists in maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for resident and personnel.
- Checks equipment and remove from service and report equipment for repair as needed.
- Shares responsibilities with team members in evaluating effectiveness of resident care by observing and reporting resident vital signs, symptoms and general condition to appropriate individual (s).
- Ensures that an individualized plan is implemented to ensure the comfort of resident. Asses for pain on an on-going basis.
- Review resident medical record and observation, by responding to clinical alerts that was triggered by PCT/PCA when nursing care was rendered from POC.
- Maintains clinical competence through participation and attendance at continuing education programs.
- Performs other nursing functions related to resident care and nursing service, as assigned by Head Nurse, Staff Nurse, ADNS or CNO
