Position Description

A nonprofit health services organization in New York City is looking to add a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to their team in the Bronx. In this role, the Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for providing evaluation, diagnosis and therapeutic intervention in accordance with program policies, the regulations and requirements of applicable regulatory agencies and the standards of the profession. Monitors treatment plan and progress, provides training to residential staff, and conveys techniques to others.

About the Opportunity:

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm
  • Setting: Residential Facility
  • Patient Population: Individuals with Developmental Disabilities

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a written plan for each person we support to provide nursing services as a part of total habilitation programs
  • Monitor required staff health records and provides tests in accordance with regulatory agency requirements
  • Provide immediate first aid with referral to outside Emergency Services or Private Physician
  • Schedule appointment and follow up on Physicians' recommendations; make recommendations as changes occur
  • Keep up to date and accurate records of examinations, immunizations, illnesses, accidents and other pertinent data via progress notes
  • Administer medications when appropriate and supervise AMAP certified staff in medication administration
  • Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of Nursing experience
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • CPR certification
  • Experience with Community-based Health Services and/or working with Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
  • Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
  • Patient oriented
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized
